catching up!

Been awhile since I have posted...I thought I would do a better job of keeping my blog updated but life keeps getting in the way. We had our first show of the season in Chicago last weekend(chicagoantiquemarket.com) and it went really well. We had a little problem getting up there (our truck broke down), but thankfully we made it. We were about 2 hours late so it didn't give me a lot of time to unload and set up. It normally takes me about 3 hours to set up our booth and this time I only had about 1 hour. I was a little stressed! I had planned on taking pictures for my blog, but I had no time. Hopefully next time!
Now that we are back I am rearranging the shop for summer. The shop has about 10 rooms plus a wrap around porch and we redo almost every room. Needless to say I am a little torn up and keeping myself busy. We also need to stay on the junking trail...our next show is June 28th...plus we have to keep the shop stocked up!

So I snapped a couple of pics this morning of a few areas we have redone...

got frogs???

No, I don't mean those green, slimy ones my 7 year old boy likes...flower frogs. These unique items were used by florists and housewives to artfully arrange flowers. There are so many different varieties and they are in themselves beautiful pieces of art! Thought I would show just a few that I have in the shoppe!

Frogs can still be used to arrange your spring bouquets or can also be repurposed to hold pencils or pens...
hold a special photo, business cards, greeting cards...

or name cards for placesettings at a garden themed party!!!

Vintage frogs range from $5.00 to $35.00 and are all available in the shoppe. They are a fun and inexpensive item to collect!!!

Auction goodies!

My hubby went to the local auction on Saturday and was able to get a few goodies. Since I am the only person that works at the shoppe I rarely get to go. He really has a good eye for things that I like and he knows what I can sell. We are getting ready for our first show of the year (May 24th). We set up at the Chicago Antique Market...chicagoantiquemarket.com. We set up last year and really enjoyed being in the city and the diversity of the show. We live about 2 hours from Chicago in a farming community and so it was a real treat for us hicks:)

So, here are just a few things he picked up...!

Drumroll Please...

I have thought about having a blog of my very own for over a year and now here I am writing my first post! My mouth feels like cotton, my heart is beating wildly, and my mind is totally blank!!!

My hope in creating this blog is to share little bits of my life, my heart, and my shoppe. I have owned and operated a little antique shop now for 5 years. It has been one of the most challenging and yet rewarding things I have done. It was a little over a year ago when I read Curious Sofa's article in Country Living that I entered this blog world. It really opened up my mind to a whole new way of thinking. I now faithfully read a number of blogs and these ladies have no idea how much they have encouraged, inspired, and challenged me in my business. I long to share my vintage finds, my shoppe vingettes, my struggles, and my dreams with these people that I don't even know and yet feel a connection to. How strange huh?
So I will leave with this picture of my little shoppe located in a little town but ran by a girl with big dreams!!!! shoppe girl
